Purim: What and Why?

The festival of Purim is celebrated every year on the 14th of the Hebrew month of Adar (This year on March 19-20). It commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in Ancient Persia from Haman's plot "to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews, young and old, infants and women, in a single day."

Purim Gifts for the Poor

As our annual tradition Rabbi Levi will be sending funds to the poor in Israel on Purim day. Money that you get to him before 11am will be phoned in to be distributed on Purim day in Israel, any funds that will arrive after that time will be distributed in Jerusalem on Their Purim Day (which is one day later).

Leave an envelope for him at Lubavitch House by Friday or find him at one of the Purim events.

Alternatively, you can donate online at www.LubavitchHouse.com/Donate (you must indicate that this is "matanot Levyonim" to be distributed to the poor in the note secion).
