The Chabad Lubavitch House at Penn was founded in 1980 by Rabbi Menachem and Chava Schmidt. Lubavitch House at Penn has emerged as a pioneer and leader in Chabad on campus internationally. Subsequently in 1990 Rabbi Ephraim and Flora Levin joined the team. In 1993, with the help of several ZBT brothers, The Jewish Heritage Programs (JHP) was founded in order to meet new challenges and reach new goals. In 2000, Rabbi Levi and Nechama Haskelevich arrived as Campus Rabbi and co-directors of education and programming, altogether creating the force that is Lubavitch House at Penn.

Soon, the Lubavitch House and Jewish Heritage Programs will be moving to it's beautiful new home, the Perelman Center for Jewish Life, 4032-34 Spruce Street, a small distance from it's temporary residence on 4037 Pine Street. The new Center will provide an incredible facility for exploration, learning, and programming for all students interested in embracing their Judaism. We are determined to raise the last $150,000 by the end of September 2010! Please help us to make this happen and to make our move a true success!

We're Making Strides at the Perelman Center for Jewish Life!

On Wednesday, April 21st, we closed on bank financing to enable the initial occupancy of the Perelman Center project. Construction re-started on Monday, April 26th, with completion targeted for October 2010. The building is becoming more beautiful everyday. We’re so close to making our vision a reality, please help us complete our goal of raising the final $150,000!  Your donation will help to build The Jewish Women's Resource Center, Beit Yaacov Synagogue, a social dining hall and student lounge, a large classroom/library for student learning, and new offices for the Lubavitch House, Jewish Heritage Programs, and the Healthy Living Task Force. If you would like to be taken on a private tour of the building, please contact Ephraim Levin at 267-496-4123, Menachem Schmidt at 215-435-0646 or Levi Haskelevich at 267-738-8995.
